NY Attorney General Beefs Up Office With 2 Lawyers from Federal Government
Reuters news reports that New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman just picked up a couple of heavy hitters with federal experience for his office.
Howard Master, who had served as deputy chief of the criminal division for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan, left that position on 3/8/17,
Eric Haren, who served as chief counsel to Sen. Dianne Feinstein, ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, will join the NY D.A.’s office on Monday, 3/27.
Schneiderman’s Plans for New Players? The NY AG, who’s not a fan of Donald Trump, has been probing the President’s past and present business activities – e.g., the Trump charitable foundation and Trump University. Schneiderman also joined lawsuits against Trump’s first travel ban.
"As a general matter, it is not sustainable for [Donald Trump] to refuse to divest from all of these vast holdings and refuse to disclose what those holdings are." - - Eric Schneiderman.
Howard Master will lead "complex affirmative investigations and litigation as well as advise on important investigations and prosecutions in the criminal division." Eric Haren, who has experience in civil rights, constitutional law, data privacy, and security and criminal law, will provide experience in federal law and the internal workings of Congress and federal agencies.
