New Compliance Chief, New Internal Audit Chief at Citigroup

February 27, 2017

CEO Michael Corbat has a new CCO ... and for that matter, a new internal audit chief.  In an internal memo last week, Corbat announced that Mark Carawan, the bank’s chief internal auditor, would take the role of compliance chief, succeeding John Davidson. Mr. Carawan had headed IAD since joining Citigroup in 2011. He’ll continue to report to Mr. Corbat.

Davidson, who is now a principal at Pirnie Advisory, stepped down in October after 3 years in that position. Longtime Citigroup veteran Bill Mills has been serving as interim compliance chief.

Mary McNiff, Citigroup’s CAO of Latin America, has been named the new audit chief, reporting to Mr. Corbat and the board’s audit committee. Ms. McNiff has improved controls throughout the region, including through the “strategic transformation program” in Mexico, Mr. Corbat said in the memo.
