Matthew Axelrod Joins Linklaters Law from the Justice Department

Matthew Axelrod, who formerly served as the top deputy to acting attorney general Sally Yates, has joined global law firm Linklaters as partner in the Washington office. in its white-collar defense practice. Mr. Axelrod, 46, joins a growing white collar practices for London-based Linklaters.

 

Mr. Axelrod and Ms. Yates had intended to leave their job after Jeff Sessions was confirmed, but those plans were scuttled when Ms. Yates was fired for not supporting Donald Trump’s immigration ban. That was on 1/30/17.  

 

Mr. Axelrod's Experience.    After graduating from Yale Law, Mr. Axelrod spent a decade as a government prosecutor. He began as an assistant U.S. attorney in Miami and later became a senior counsel in the criminal division in Washington where he oversaw public corruption, Bank Secrecy Act and money laundering cases.

 

From December 2013 until February 2015, he was in private practice with the plaintiff law firm, Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll.
