Goldman Sachs & The White House: A Two-Way Street

February 7, 2017

Goldman Sachs alumni might dominate the ranks of the Trump Administration, but the U.S. investment bank has just raided the White House to ensure that it’s not infiltrated by hackers.

Goldman has just hired Andy Ozment as an MD and Co-CIO (chief information security officer) in New York. Ozment has spent the past 9 years working in cyber-security for various U.S. government departments including the White House, the Department of Defense, and, most recently, the Department of Homeland Security. Prior to working in government, Ozment worked at Merrill Lynch in London.

At DHS, Ozment led a team of cyber-security professionals and oversaw the department’s response to the data breach at the Office of Personnel Networks in 2015. Hackers stole personal information – including SSN’s, birth dates and even finger prints – of more than 20 million federal employees.

Goldman Sachs is hiring for cyber-security, but not in huge numbers. Right now, it has 3 jobs in this area in the U.S - 2 are for analysts within its Threat Management Center in Dallas, and a VP role for an application security architect in New York.
