Donald Trump just beat Hillary Clinton again. After a surprise win and contentious race to clinch the presidency, the president-elect was selected as Time magazine's person of the year on Wednesday. Number 2 was Clinton, and Number 3 was "the hackers," Time said.

"This year may have been one of the more straight-forward years," said Nancy Gibbs, the magazine's managing editor. "Some year it's hard, ... some years they have a more passionate debate."

Trump called it "a great honor" in an interview on NBC's "TODAY."

Others who had been cited in previous years by the magazine include German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Bill and Melinda Gates. But being named person of the year is not an endorsement. The list includes Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin and Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
