Defense Lawyer Mukasey on Trump’s Short List to Replace Bharara
[Photo: David Shankbone / Wikimedia Commons]
Marc Mukasey, a top white-collar criminal defense lawyer who works at the same law firm as Rudy Giuliani, is reportedly on the Trump transition team’s short list to replace Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. Now working at Greenberg Traurig, which he joined earlier this year along with former NYC mayor after both left Bracewell & Giuliani, Mukasey is the global co-chair of white-collar defense and special investigations.
Mukasey has a long career both in public service and in representing corporate clients in white-collar litigation. Mukasey’s client list includes some controversial figures, including: Michael DuHaime, a confidant of NJ Gov. Christie who testified during the Bridgegate trial, and former Fox News boss Roger Ailes. Mukasey previously served as the deputy chief appellate attorney for the Manhattan federal prosecutor.
Mr. Mukasey's father is Michael Mukasey, who was appointed US Attorney General by President George W. Bush in 2007, and who has served as a chief judge in Manhattan federal court.
Marc Mukasey says he's flattered, but has no intentions of leaving his current job.
