Dan Loeb’s Hedge Fund Bets Nearly $1Bn on Wall Street

February 12, 2017

Billionaire hedge fund manager Dan Loeb's Third Point LLC went big on Wall Street in late 2016. Its  latest Form 13-F regulatory filing shows that the hedge fund took new positions in JPMorgan, Bank of America, and Goldman Sachs.

As of 12/31/16, Third Point held:

  • 5.25 million shares of JPMorgan, worth ~ $453 million;
  • 17.5 million shares of Bank of America, worth ~ $387 million; and,
  • 400,000 shares of Goldman Sachs, worth ~ $96 million.

The 13-F regulatory filing lists long stock positions that investment firms make. The positions are current as of 45 days prior, so it is possible that Third Point has changed its positions.
