Baker Botts Hires 9 Norton Rose Partners on Merger Day

February 22, 2017

On the same day Norton Rose Fulbright announced a combination with Chadbourne & Parke, which brings the firm a large presence in the Northeast, its Texas competitor Baker Botts announced that it had hired 9 Norton Rose partners in its hometown of Houston. The group includes:

  • David Peterman, former head of Norton Rose’s M&A and securities practice;
  • Efren Acosta, former head of Norton Rose’s Houston corporate and M&A practice
  • Robert Phillpott, former head of Norton Rose’s U.S. tax practice.

Other partners include Edward Rhyne, Ned Crady, Daniel Mark, Natasha Khan, Ron Scharnberg and Dan Tristan.

Kelly Rose, co-chair of the Baker Botts corporate practice, said that the moves were unrelated to Norton Rose Fulbright’s merger with Chadbourne, and that the recruitment of the partners had taken place since the third quarter of last year.

Rose said that the group represents private equity firms, oil companies, general corporate clients, as well as some technology companies.
