Biggest Wall Street Winners You’ve Never Heard Of
[Photo: Great China Wall, by CEphoto, Uwe Aranas]
While much has been written about Wall Street’s comeback this year - like Goldman Sachs’ 37% stock price run-up through Friday - the real winners in the financial sector are companies that nobody’s ever heard of.
CHINA COMMERCIAL CREDIT - an $18Mn micro-cap lender located outside Shanghai, that has surged 240% in 2016 through Friday. It trades on Nasdaq’s pink sheets, makes small loans to businesses and farmers in its region - far from the big-money wheeling and dealing on Wall Street.
HEALTH INSURANCE INNOVATIONS - $258Mn Tampa-based company, describes itself as a “developer, distributor and virtual administrator of affordable, cloud-based individual health and family insurance plans.” After being down or flat for most of the year, it has since skyrocketed 161% to $17.50.
ROUNDING OUT THE FIVE TOP GAINERS - Summit Financial Group, a WV bank, which has risen 135%; Fifth Street Asset Management, a CT money manager, which rose 128%; and Meta Financial Group, SD bank holding company, up 125%.
